SPMS Mandarin Homework & Enrichment | Grades 6-8 | 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm | $700
SPEF is pleased to collaborate with SPCC in this class for students currently enrolled in the Mandarin class at SPMS. SPCC offers this class to help students improve their grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills. The class also helps students with their Mandarin homework. Enrichment elements and fun activities to reinforce language skills.
Tuesdays:
Money Management 4 Teens | Grades 6-8 | 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm | $320
MM4K teaches essential life skills like money management and finance fundamentals. This is a fun-filled financial literacy program that merges learning and play, created by experts in education, business, and child psychology.
Wednesdays:
Creative Challenges Competition | Grades 3-8 | 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm | $650
Explore creative solutions to open-ended challenges. Practice public speaking skills as you present your solutions. Families with Gr.3-5 students are responsible for getting their students to SPMS. Class runs for an extended session: Aug 28 – Feb 26.
Knitting w/ Mrs. Ryu | Grades 6-8 | 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm | $290
New this Fall! Join SPMS teacher, Mrs. Ryu in this beginner knitting course, but intermediate knitters are welcome to join our knitting bee. Students will learn to cast on, knit, and purl. Projects will include items such as bookmarks, mini scarves, small stuffed toys, bean bags, coasters, washcloths, and envelope purses. Ms. Scudari will lead some crochet classes.
Wednesdays/Fridays in Spring
Spring Musical – Acting, Costumes & Stage Streams | Grades 6-8 | 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm | $575
Three Streams:
Acting – All students will be in the ensemble and can audition for specific roles. Auditions begin informally from day 1 – More information will be shared at the Parent Meeting in Spring. Starts Wednesday, Feb-19, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Wed/Fri). From Mar-14 rehearsals end 6 PM & Mondays added starting Apr-14. This is a 70 hr commitment (approx). Cost is $575
Costumes – Led by Upstage’s Costume Designer, Faith Kawakami, this is a great opportunity for students to learn processes to create & manage costumes for a theater show. Monday, Apr-21 – Friday, Apr-25, 3:00 – 6:00 PM (Mon/Wed/Fri). Dress Rehearsals & Show Weekend Thursday, May-01 – Sunday, May-04. This is a 30 hour commitment (approx) & includes two 2-hour workshops on Wed in March (date, TBD). Optional sessions to practice taking Measurements Wed in Feb (date, TBD). $260
Stage – Led by Mr. Bachemin from SPMS, students will learn & run technical aspects of the production, such as sets, props, light, sound & video production (TBD). Wednesday, Apr-23 – Sunday, May-04 (no Tuesday). May include some set work on Thu Apr-24 &/or Sat Apr-26 (TBD).
This is a 36 hour commitment (approx). $295
